The Disappearance
In the setting of your choice, something or someone has disappeared and there is something weird about the way the disappearance occurred or where the missing item or person has disappeared to. How does it get weird?
— Wednesday Weird #12: The Disappearance
Taking a setting of generic fantasy and inspiration from a number of sources, we get:
One of Our Shadows is Missing.
When I saw this title on Blog, Jvstin Style I immediately knew what it was going to be about. Shame I was entirely wrong! Still, I owe this idea in part to him.
Having shamelessly stolen this title I shall continue by stealing the seed of the idea from Faction Paradox - somebody has their shadow stolen.
Somebody, perhaps a player character, perhaps a friend of theirs, perhaps a VIP is attacked by a cloaked swordsman. Strangely, the swordman makes only a single slash with his saber and misses before fleeing into a crowd.
It isn’t until later, away from the crowd, that somebody notices something is amiss. The victim casts no shadow.
Why was it stolen? Could somebody be planning a mystical rite that will harm the shadow’s true owner? Is someone auctioning off the shadows of the influential? Will that barbarian general start accusing the shadowless victim of being a demon?

Mark of Nottingham
Last weekend but one (I’m having a mad catch up with blogging night tonight!) I popped up to Nottingham to see Simon & co.
The purpose of the trip was to scare people with 9”x6” prints of interesting photographs and do a little gaming. Little turned out to be rather an understatment. I was running Mark of Amber which turned out to be rather bigger then I expected. We managed to get about ten hours of gameplay out of it before I had to cut it short due to people needing sleep and such.
Despite that, the feedback I recieved was positive so I’m planning to rerun it as part of the campaign I’m starting in the New Year (Yes, finally, I’m going to run a proper, regular campaign.)

Game Dream: You Said WHAT?
In every campaign, there are memorable scenes. Often, this is due as much to player participation as it is to GM flavor and skill. This week, I’d like for us to share quotes that stuck with you down through the years. What did you or your cohorts say during the game (in or out of character) that made a lasting impression?
Two instances come to mind, both Babylon 5.
The first, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Hello, I’m Canadian.
The other took place while we were on a rescue mission. Matt had been wounded, and then patched up by my character. A minute later he was patched up again by another character who hadn’t noticed. By now we had a slightly wounded character with a double dose of stimulants in his bloodsteam. So when we came to attack the enemy ship to rescue the hostages.
I go through the door and shoot the first thing I see!
The first thing the drugged up character saw happened to be one of the hostages - who promptly took a PPG blast in the chest.
